So, its decided.  There’s a new focus on the blog.  Because it covers a lot of who I am and what point I’m at in my life, I’ll be focusing on empty nest topics.  More specifically, empty nesting on a budget.  Why on a budget? Because pretty much every other empty nest blog I’ve found out there is by people who have lots of money.  They travel where ever they want, they redecorate however they want – they have money to spend.

I don’t have money to spend – or at least not much – so I’ll be filling my empty nest in ways that don’t cost much money.

I do think this will have an appeal to people because I think there are a lot of people out there that hit this stage of their live and don’t have a lot of money.  Not all of us spent our twenties, thirties, and forties working at careers that pay $100,000 a year or more. Not all of us have been able to put aside a crap load of money so they could travel the world.  We’re the average people of the world and we don’t have $10,000 to drop on redecorating the kids’ old rooms. We need to find ways to do things on a limited budget.

But I need your help for categories!  I’ve put all the old categories under a bulk “Old Categories” section at the top.  I don’t want to get rid of the old blog posts but I want to focus on the new ones to come by making those categories more prominent.

I was thinking of using People, Activities, and Money main categories and then I could have sub-categories with thing like Savings and Earning under the main money category.  Does that make sense? Now, since I’ll be re-doing at least one of the bedrooms into something else I’ll have some decor in there too but I don’t want to call it Decor because that sounds fussy.  Maybe Decorating or Renovations under the Activities category? Or should it be it’s own category?  I don’t know yet how much I’ll actually write about it.

Anyway, your thoughts would be appreciated! Leave a comment!
